MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS (MIS) DEPARTMENT

The MIS Department provides innovative solutions to connect, organize, operate, and maintain the ACHA's computer systems and network to communicate effectively with the world in a manner that expresses dedication to ethical standards and technical proficiencies.

The MIS Department is responsible for maintaining the servers, switches, cabling and connectivity for the Central Office at 301 Chartiers Avenue and the 46 management offices at various locations throughout Allegheny County.

The MIS Department is certified with the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS), part of the FBI. The MIS Department is responsible for cybersecurity and network access security. The MIS Department follows the guidelines set forth by CJIS.

The MIS Department manages:

  • 4 physical servers and 27 virtual servers
  • 160 workstation computers, including the maintenance of all hardware and installation of all software
  • The VPN tunnel infrastructure that connects our 46 management office to our central office in McKees Rocks
  • The backup systems, with the ability to restore entire servers
  • The Microsoft Active Directory infrastructure
  • The ACHA email system
  • The ACHA website, including the design, implementation, and server-side programming
  • The SQL Database that houses the ACHA HUD, financial, and tenant records
  • The transmission of data to HUD
  • The Ring Central VOIP Phone System
  • The technical training of ACHA staff in new software
  • Custom application development, with many custom built applications created by the MIS Department
